Hodgey Podgey-isms

The above picture has nothing to do with the randomness of this post but doggone it...it is just a work of art, isnt it? Those of you who know the above 'gals' are going to be especially appreciative, I'm sure. Giggling all over yourselves are'nt ya?

Let's see...news and info.

-Christmas 'Eve', I went to a slumber party. Five girls and no kids . Two of us are temporarily visiting from their missionary status in Bolivia and Nicaragua respectively, one of us is an implant from Mexico who speaks endearing and dodgy english, and one of us has an unbelieving mate who was currently spending the holiday with family. Since we don't have all that much in common on a secular level, it was inevitable that 90% of the conversation would be spiritual in nature. The next morning, we were all feeling enormously upbuilt and unified.

-Movies have been very disappointing lately. I haven't seen anything 'new' to theaters but the stuff I've seen at home has been painfully ho-hum. Talladega Nights-The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The Way We Were, and The Last Time I Saw Paris were all equally 'meh'. Oh well...I did put one new review on my 'movin pitchers' blog-'Murder on the Orient Express' deserved the full 'treatment', I felt. I'm really hankering to see the new Christopher Guest flick, 'For Your Consideration' that is only showing in limited release right now-I'm sure it's wonderful.

-New page on the Man Who Laughs blog (www.themanwholaughs.blogspot.com) really moves me. One of the best descriptions of a human being I've ever read. And you don't have to be following the story to 'get it'. Victor Hugo was a genius.

-Current read: The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. I started it, saw the movie, and decided to finish it-in that order. The first 20 pages made me feel utterly inadequate as a housewife because they detail the inner workings of an english estate via the perfect butler. It's extremely intricate and even a little stressful to read. But after I saw the great movie, I decided to give it another try and now I'm loving it! Not finished yet...have you read this one, bookyeti?

-Is it wierd that I love Miami Ink so much? Yesterday was a marathon...a woman had a grilled cheese tatooed on her chest. It was a 'spiritual' grilled cheese with the face of the virgin Mary on it. Now, I definitely saw the likeness of a face on there but it's so funny to me that it had to be the Virgin Mary...haha. The original sandwhich sold for 20,000 dollars! So I guess the lady wanted to have it tatooed on her to 'keep it with her always'. I don't know. It looked more like Hilary Clinton to me.

heather, when you get a chance to check out the leslie hall link, I know you'll love it! It's one of the biggest laughs I've had in a while...absolutely bizarre.

Being that I know each of those "ladies" you are quite right - lol! Those two are a goofy match made in heaven.

Yes! I love her site. I had forgotten about it until the reminder. Too funny.

They both look strikingly familiar. Especially the one on the right. Hmm...

That top picture is just plain wrong. No woman should ever be that ugly!

Ashley, I love your taste in retro-chic! It reminds me of a retro-film appreciation gig I used to attend in Northern California (www.thrillville.net) where fez-wearing, smoking jacket sporting Will The Thrill and his burlesque styling wife Monica Tiki Goddess would regale us with films featuring old school hot rods, zombies, beach parties and other tales of the bizarre!

My one regret was missing Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill! on the big screen.

I love the custom creature taxidermy! I'd get one for work, but people here are so uptight!

Nice to see some love for the new Batman! Heck, I even found Reign of Fire enjoyable due to Christian Bale!

Turborip,
Just saw FPKK! on TCM Underground the other night! That malicious chick sure had one powerful kitten karate chop, didnt she? And what about that guy holding off a full-throttle automobile using only the power of his well-muscled chest?! LOL!

Yeah, the custom creature taxidermy is brilliant. I love the jitterbugging carcassas-is that wrong?

I actually find Reign of Fire to super entertaining-not only because of the beautiful Baleishness but also due to the over-the-top scenery chewing of McConaghey. Love the cigar!

Has anyone seen 'Empire of the Sun' with Bale at age 11? Probably the best child acting I've ever seen and one of Speilburg's best movies, imo.

Empire of the Sun is a great movie!
Speaking of Mr. Bale, The other day I happened across
the purple hair lady network and they were showing a Bible movie about Jesus for Christmas.
I paused to see if there was anything to make fun of and noticed that Jesus was hot! The camera panned in, and low and behold it was Christian Bale- Oops! Did not expect to see an actor of his caliber on the purple hair lady network.

Yes Debbie, that would be 'Mary, Mother of Jesus' which aired in 1999. Interestingly, Bale filmed this at the same time as 'American Psycho!' Isnt that really what great acting is all about...being able to simultaneously portray Patrick Bateman and Jesus without being struck by lightning? (snicker snicker)
