16+ WEEKS...

So I'm at sixteen weeks now. No picture to post currently. I will eventually get around to posting that, I suppose.

Monday's doctor's appointment was uneventful. I won't go in for my ultrasound until 3 weeks from then so-a little more than two weeks to go. I am a little apprehensive because I almost don't WANT to know. But, I'm trying to prepare myself to be disappointed and accepting if it's a boy. Ultimately, I know I just want a healthy baby and if I find out it's another boy-I know I'll be very happy when it comes time to welcome little Victor James into the world. Monday, they did get the heartbeat very quickly on the doppler so I guess my uterus has 'popped' now. The kid's heartbeat was so loud, actually, they had to turn the volume down on the little speaker...heh heh. 160 bpm (incidentally, this heart rate is more in keeping w/a little boy than a girl. Boy's heartrates tend to be higher, I understand...sigh.)

So funny how the perfect little girl's name will pop out of nowhere! We were on our way home from the airport a couple of weeks ago, listening to this great Rockabilly compilation cd we got (for free) w/ our tickets to Viva Las Vegas , and this song came on called 'Abigail Blue' by the Starkweather Boys. The song is soooo great (you can hear it on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/thestarkweatherboys) and somehow, 'Abigail Blue' started to really grow on us! Now, if it were just up to me, that would be her name- Abigail Blue Westmoreland...but unfortunately, I've made this itty promise to my grandmother that any possible little girls will carry her name. So, I think we've decided on Helen Abigail. After all, Abigail IS the number 2 name in the country right now (gheesh) and I just can't bring myself to side w/ the masses by putting it in the number one spot on the birth certificate...heh heh. But, we'll undoubtedly be calling her 'Abigail', in keeping w/ my family habit of calling kids by their middle names (I myself am a Sharron Ashley) unless she just LOOKS like a Helen, which I doubt. ;)

But she'll always be Abigail Blue to me.

I absolutly LOVE the middle name Blue. I thought of that as a middle name for Ava, but spelled like the cheese. Marie won out since it was ultimatly Heath's choice since I chose Ava.

I know what you mean about almost not wanting to know. I felt the same way. I was a nervous wreck before hand. Not at all about the baby's health but that it would be a boy instead of a girl and the disappointment I would feel.

What I have always read is that a girl's heartrate is faster than a boy's. I can't wait to find out for sure and start buying little Helen Abigail Blue cute little girly things. ;)

Grrrrrr! Thanks alot for alerting me to the Chinese Lunar Calendar thing, heddo! Now, I KNOW I'm having a boy. And according to the internet, that thing is 93% accurate. Sigh. ;)

I've always liked the name Abigail/Abbie!

Who says you couldn't name her Helen Abigail Blue Westmoreland?

LOL...I don't think there's that many spaces on the birth certificate form!

I think Abigail Blue is a cool name. I think it works really well with the 'Blue'.

A co-worker of mine just told me about the Chinese Lunar Calendar thing. He says his wife swears by it as it's been correct on all her friends, though that's probably what you don't want to hear right now. Sorry!

Yes, you're right, turborip...that is NOT what I wanted to hear. :(
I checked it w/ both my boys and it was dead right w/ both of them.

Stupid Chinese people and their overdeveloped lunar awareness!

Actually, when I checked my due date, according to the doctor's ideas-I conceived at the very end of December (which would give me a girl) but according to my calculations, I conceived around January fifth (a boy) so maybe that puts me back to 50/50

I agree with Debbie. I think the three together work very well. Believe me there are enough spaces. My sis-in-law has 3 middle names, it's Heather Brianna Marie Thiessen (her mom's maiden used here) then her maiden name and married last name. Now that's a lot of names!

Maybe it will make you feel better.

Helen Abigail Blue Westmoreland -that's 28 characters! However, your friend's were 27 characters so maybe it's not out of the question. For some reason I was thinking that when I went to put Nathan Edward Westmoreland on the sheet, I was running short of spaces-but evidently not.

I was thinking of "Abigail Blue" as one name :)
