Must. go. there. :)
Thanks!
Cool song. Very Taj Mahal-inspired. I'd never heard of him. Thanks for sharing.
I would like to say a few things about this song, and then like the rabid turtle, I will be off like a bolt of lightening on a cloudless day, right next to a stake & Ale. You know, why exactly is that place called Steak & Ale? I looked at their menu, and aside from the delicious crab cakes you can order as an appetizer, there was nothing that really stood out about steaks or ale's. In fact they are not known for the brewing of fine ale's. The steak menu was like most restaurants that serve steak, so what is their point? I think when the meeting at the round table took place to decide what to call this restaurant, someone said "well... I'm not the smartest on of this bunch by any means, so you can listen to my advice and dismiss it as folly, or maybe lend an ear, and heed some of my nostalgiaisms. We serve steak, and ice cold beer. what is them English people call beer?" "ALE," someone said from the table. "ok, could we call it steak Ale?" "That's stupid! How about Ale and Steak?" "Too simple," the man from the right sand in a loud opera like voice. "ok, how about Steak & Ale?" "Well we do serve steak, we do serve ale, heck, let's do it."
I have a problem with the name because it suggests I will find a steak and ale that are unlike any other. But truthfully, I think they are using the same meat other restaurants use.
So back to this song, who was it that said one time, "You have to walk before you can crawl?" Well that would be George Clooney from Oceans 11, but then Brad Pitt stepped in and said, reverse that, while making a circling hand gesture. In fact he used the same gesture that I use when telling my kids to turn around at the meeting. Does this mean Brad Pitt and I think alike... Well I thin the obvious answer is Yes, yes Brad Pitt and i think a lot alike.
Now when listening to this song, I felt it necessary to first put my headphones on seeing that I am at work. As I did this, I noticed for the first time just how beautiful my hands are. I sat for a moment and stared at my hands and thought these words immediately. "French fries." But after I dismissed the notion that my hands are like French fries, these words entered my mind. "As the sun bends it first flash of dark purples, and brilliant reds, and the day star rises to the east, and the silence of the night disappears, the juniper sings aloud, and the triumphant song birds sing to God, as the mountain goat stands and looks at his crag, his rock mass, and declares to the world that I AM KING OF THE HILL! As the albino deer rises from his nest, and searches for food with no danger in which to hold back his feet, and as the mist from the Earth rises to glorify the very green that produced it, none of this, none of this is as beautiful as my hands. And heck, I was only looking ast the back of them. Just imagine what happened when I turned them over to reveal my palm.
So anywho what was I saying....oh yea, the song. umm.. I wasn’t able to get to it from work. I will let you know when I get home.
Your hands ARE beautiful but you're still a nut...see ya this weekend.
And by the way, I don't believe that Steak and Ale is as good as Long John Silvers.
Cute song; reminds me of some of O Brother, Where Art Thou fare. One of my fave movies, that.
Not at all what I imagine the singer in the picture would sound like, lol.
I am a huge fan of O Brother as well...probably the most quoted movie in our house.
"Friend, your foldin' money's come unstowed..."
